The Ultimate Drum Machine Showdown: SP-1200 vs MPC vs Maschine+

Показать описание
In this video we are going to compare the sound of the Rossum SP-1200 with the Akai MPC X SE, Native Instruments Maschine+ and the Akai MPC 4000. We will compare the sounds without processing. After the first round of testing I will then switch on the "SP-1200 Mode" on the MPC X SE and Maschine+ respectively. Do the Vintage "SP-1200" Modes sound the same to you?

The 4000 stands on it's own and is the shining star here. Honestly, I kind of figured it would be the standout. The Maschine+ not in SP mode actually was pretty good but once it went to SP mode it was a bit muffled. I personally am not the biggest fan on the SP but I know folks swear by it. I didn't care much for the SE sound either, it feels like it just didn't get all of the parts the 4000 has lol like they decided to cut some corners. I like the 4000 the most!

I like seeing samplers fight each other!

Sp1200 is the most obvious. Sounds gritty and better low end. But 4000 is in my opinion the best machine

Maschine Plus and the 1200 sound the closest to each other the 4000 had that clean bump to it that the MPC X SE falls short on .

The 4000 sounds the best to me. Did you use it to make the background beat of the video intro?

watch till the end guys! why is there such a difference between the -6db vs 0db on programm mode in the MPC X SE. with 0db it almost sounds exactly the same as the 4000 imo. way better than with -6db...

Maschine plus sounded very similar to the SP 12. Dope experiment.

Interesting comparison! I thought the M+ sounded closest to the SP, but I liked the sound of the MPC 4000 best overall. 😁

On the maschine i usually use all three modes on a track. STandard, SP12 and MPC... especially mpc on loops

I Think the Maschine + gives a better replica of the SP-1200 it sounded very Dirty. I don't even use this feature on the X cause it don't sound good at all. Great testing my dude!

Maschine had always sounded the closest thing to a sp12, even the mk1 maschine matches up to sp12 the closet.

Thanks for the test material. I recorded all of your tests, labeled them, separated them to separate tracks in Protools and applied a gain match plug. I advise everyone to do the same. I won't say what I found (except that from now on I'm gonna keep my MPC X at -6 internally and use the vintage mode, and I just bought another MPC 4000.) I'm curious what everyone else thinks once the audio is level matched. (Setting the Peaks to match is different from putting them at the same level.).

Hey fam, I was trying stuff out. I wanted to know your opinion. I was given soundcraft mixer (lx7 spirit) I wanted to use it for some analog summing. My question is, with my rme should I pass my mpc outs to the mixer first and then the rme or track out to the rme pass it thru the mixer after and then sum in the rme? What do yo think

Thank you for helping the community for all these years! That being said the Mpc 4K is the winner. All the other machines are still usable. The could definitely benefit from additional processing. I know the new Mpc’s & Maschine both have custom effects in the software there are not the best but they do help improve on the sound instead not applying anything.

I had never used the M+ like and M+ (use it with the software). The M+ has a really nice sound with the SP1200 Mode ! But the MPC 4000 is a clear winner.
