Mithridates was a genius who's scientific insight was a millennia ahead of its time. He watched his father die of poison and made it his life's work to prevent this. Perhaps he just got too good at his own game?

Superb delivery and artwork, American delivery has improved vastly, with more interest, this runs parallel with the effort dedicated to the subject, thank you

Hannibal died by taking poison to avoid capture.
Given your Punic War series, might be a good idea to cover his later life. *:)*

King Mithridates VI of Pontus is often overshadowed by other more famous “Enemies of Rome” like Hannibal Barca and Pyrrhus of Epirus but I find Mithridates more fascinating for the sole reason that Rome had to face Mithridates not once, not twice but three times in the rightly named “Mithridatic Wars.” In those wars Mithridates faced against the best generals that Rome had to offer at the time like Sulla and Pompey Magnus.

It’s one of those rare days when YouTube actually notified me of this video going up and not the usual one-three days later! Great video as always!

The poison king by Adrienne Mayor is a great book on Mithradates.

Everytime I think of Mithridates I giggle inwardly a little bit. Maybe that's a little mean, but I can't help it. Great video. This was a nice change of paste from your Byzantium series.

Great collab this maybe will have one too on Cleopatra? Regardless Mithridates' story is tragic just like any of the enemies of the Roman Republic

If anyone read this part of history, you will know that king Mithridates has nothing to be fascinated about, he was the first person ever recorded in history to conduct the genocide against the enemy in this case the Romans, he was responsible for the death of ten of thousand innocents Roman people in Asia Minor before the Roman occupation, in which it started the war, he committed the genocide against the merchants and settlers even before the romans had influenced or invaded the area.

What a great topic for a history series! Will you be covering the Poison Affair in 17th century France that involved the court of Louis XIV? That is a fascinating story.

No commander, not even Caesar would have been a match for Sulla. He twice won the grass crown and was never once defeated in battle. The grass crown is awarded from the men alone for saving a legion from certain destruction by acts of singular valor.
