I don't always like cziffras way of playing, but this recording is phenomenal. very thoughtful and layered. I especially enjoy his strict adherence to the dynamic markings in the 23rd variations (which is played gorgeously) and the finale. the kind of subdued, piano tension in the last variation is really a special and very convincing and interesting effect. (at 10:10, I like how cziffra doesn't surpass mp or even p until 10:30)
