DIY Pest Control 001 - Introduction
Welcome to SPM's DIY Pest Control video series! Join us on this weekly journey as we discuss everything related to DIY Pest Control. Believe it or not, Tom Aldridge (owner of SPM) is more than happy to endorse the "do it yourself" approach if you're that way inclined. In the series we look to compare and contrast the industry standard and what can be done at home.

For some of us who were pretty handy around the home, we love to handle things ourselves rather than paying a professional. When it comes to DIY pest control, believe it or not, I'm more than happy to endorse the, do it yourself approach if you're that way inclined. Hi guys, Tom Aldridge here, the owner of Suburban Pest Management, we've been operating on the north side of Brisbane for nearly 30 years. And for anyone living in Southeast Queensland, you know, one thing is certain, the pests love living here too. And no, I'm not just talking about the southerners moving north of the border. What I've found over my many years in pest management is that there are still plenty of people who would prefer to save their hard earned money, rather than spend it on a professional pest manager. This doesn't normally mean not doing pest control. It means buying products off-the-shelf at Bunnings and getting it done themselves. I can't argue with those that want to do it themselves, but rather I thought it would create a series of helpful videos that go through the many different pests we may encounter in this part of Australia, and how we can manage them ourselves. The do's and don'ts of pest control. Yep. That's right. You heard correctly. I'm creating videos that may well stop you from calling me instead. Why? Well, there's no trick to it, but there is a couple of reasons I wanted to create this series. The first, as I mentioned before, is for those that are inclined, they're going to do it themselves anyway. So, I figured why not show you how to do it safely and effectively for you and your family? I also thought by going through how we do things and how you can adopt some of their methods yourself, you can see that there is a lot more to our job than just spraying a bit of chemical. You see, understanding the pest biology and behaviors is crucial in eliminating or avoiding an infestation at your home. And the best part is by learning a bit about these habits often means using non-chemical methods and avoiding risky products in your home entirely. And if by the end of it, all you decide, you know what? This is more hassle than it's worth. Then by all means, give us a call. And one of our experienced team members will be only too happy to help. So let's get started.
