Funny anecdote about accents, Im Scottish (from Edinburgh) and like the YouTuber on the video, my accent is fairly soft. I have a brother and sister who live and are from B.C., Canada. I visited them last year, and my brother's mother-in-law, who's a bit of a character, just did not understand what was coming out my mouth. So, as a joke -as well as helping her - whenever her and I were in conversation, I would "do a David Tennant" and just speak with a Southern English accent. My brother and sister would laugh whilst the mother-in-law was just oblivious. She did understand me, however! 😂

The official languages of Belgium are Dutch (sometimes called Flemish there), French, and German. They speak Dutch on both sides of the border in the divided town featured in this video. And yes, Alaska would be a good example of an exclave, the world's largest.

Great Britain got so fed up of having to mediate disputes between France and the Germanic Dutchies (it get complicated) we, with the wisdom of Soloman took a bit from each of them and created Belgium to stop the squabbling.

Her choice of topics and subject matter are absolutely AMAZING! And she's a YOUNG PERSON! That's RARE these days for anyone Born in the 90s and ESPECIALLY the early 2K's.

I believe most of the India - Bangladesh problem was sorted out in 2015. According to Wikipedia, there is now only one enclave left.

Yes, the border between India and Bangladesh has been fixed into just a very squily line without enclaves.

Also, I'm from the north of the Netherlands, and learing about the enclaves between belgium and the netherlands, proposed to go there with my dad. it was a very nice trip as a 13 year old or so with my dad, but over 10 years ago now. I can confirm, there were a lot of borders.

I live about 15 km from Baarle-Hertog/Baarle-Nassau. It is more of a tourist attraction with all of its little borders throughout the streets. It has some friendly rivalry, especially when there is a football-match between our countries during a European of Worldcup. At least one of the pubs has a border running through it with supporters on each side. It was much different in the first half of the 20th century though, when is was one of the bigger smuggling hubs between our countries.

The way you get on Jeopardy! is by going to their website and taking their test. Eventually, you will get the results. If you pass, there is a chance you will be invited to in-person auditions at a city you can choose from their list. Then, you might be chosen to appear on the show. In other words, it's a long, slow process that is mostly random chance. But, you can keep trying over and over again, which is the only way to increase your chance of being chosen. I only made it as far as the in-person auditions once, many years ago. I haven't tried to be on Jeopardy! very often because I usually can't afford to travel to the audition cities. Even though I've never been on Jeopardy!, I HAVE met Alex Trebek because he was the host of the National Geography Bee when I was one of the contestants in 1995 and 1996.

I went to Cyprus in the late 80s on holiday with family as a really young kid. We were driving and got lost went down the wrong road and there was literally a tank because we’d wound up on the border.

Speaking of famous land disputes, you should research the Hatfield and McCoys. It was epic to see their descendants on family Feud.

5:18 <---- In that town, they speak _"Gerfrutch"._ C'mon, everyone knows that.
Love your channel.

If the Cyprus borders were of interest to you, Paul from "Geography Now!" recently went there and visited the UN Buffer Zone headquarters, and also demonstrated a border crossing from the south to the north. He got into the history of it all as part of his narration and it was really fascinating.

He also recently went to the Transnistria region of Moldova, which claims to be its own country and thus is another "bizarre border." Another fascinating video.

This is INSANE! This reminds me of neighborhoods. In Buffalo NY, there are a lot of border towns and suburbs. There are neighborhoods that are primarily black, but then there's an Italian district, but within the Italian district, there's a polish community, and within that polish community, there's a black community, and within that, there's a Puerto Rican street. I may have that mixed up slightly, but you get it.

Someone have already written this probably, anyway Kaliningrad is a classic exclave example. 🍺

"Geography now Finland" search gives you one more odd border - you can play golf in two countries...

1:21 Alaska is not considered an exclave because while it is cut off from the lower 48 by Canada, its territorial waters are not buffered on all sides by foreign territory. Hawai'i shares no marine or land borders with any other nation and is therefore not considered an exclave.

I knew about different dialects in the Netherlands but I had no idea it was this complicated.

Exclave could be Gibraltar or Kaliningrad.
