・・・・・・・

In the fall of 2022, Google put together a launch of 3 cloud gaming-focused Chromebooks: one from Acer, one from Lenovo, and one from ASUS. We’ve either unboxed or reviewed the Acer and Lenovo variants of this new take on the large-screened Chromebook, but up until now, we’ve not talked much about the ASUS attempt. And to simply be frank about it, there’s a good reason for that: it’s not very good.

Appreciate your candor, even when you come across a bummer. Your willingness to call it like it is makes your reviews valuable. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the review. I've been waiting for someone to review this one. I'll hold off.

Thank you for this review! FYI, it's $450CAD during Best Buy Canada's Labour Day sale. That's about $331 USD. In THAT price range...I would say that the CX55 is a fantastic deal. :)

I just bought one of these and it's going back because I can't stand the NON-STOP loud fan. I've had many Chromebooks and none them had a fan that was ALWAYS on full speed. It's annoying AF.

Well I've enjoyed my Acer gaming Chromebook and can 100% recommend it specially now since GFN is getting a 4080 upgrade.

If only all the android apps would work on a Chromebook they would be unstoppable

Asus likes to take a lower refresh rate panel and overdrive it, which cause overshoot/ghosting, and if they're using a cheap VA which will have lower than average pixel response

Please make a video about Budget Chromebooks 🙂. Gaming Chromebooks are nice but better purchase is a classic machine with good specs.

What’s the point of these? Where is Valve’s native support for steam? They have the proton api.

I got this laptop as an everyday use laptop and some tablet use. And to use my bluestacks to run some of my android games like monopoly Go and such phone games like that. For these things it is absolutely great:) Its also great for media veiwing. I liked that it flips 360° and can be good for everyday use. But Im not a actual "gamer".

By the way, it's fan is super noisy and always on practically. Also, the scree reflects MASSIVELY. It's too bad. I really wanted to love this item for non gaming, but too noisy and glare. I returned it.

Looks like a CM5 to me, ASUS must have launched the CM5 Chromebook with the wrong chipset under the hood at the time of the shortage?
I'm good & happy with my CM5, I use mainly for media consumption and a few websites and not for games $300 Cdn. It was pure eye candy

Check the milliseconds of the panel. That's what ghosting is. A low ms will cause ghosting.

Love what you're doing here, and to be fair, love Chromebooks, not sure I'm feeling these new "Gaming Chromebooks" though, just feels like any other Chromebook with a high refresh rate screen strapped on.

If youre getting a chromebook for gaming just do yourself a favor and get an actual gaming laptop that has good specs. It's worth it
