I missed my best friends wedding and the birth of her daughter because we were both too stubborn to reach out. I didn't know she was getting married but I knew about the baby so I ended up reaching out just after her daughter was born. We've since parted ways again and as much as I miss her I also realise I was carrying our friendship and it wasn't in my best interest. We'd been friends for over 20 years.

Moral of the story is reach out but don't be afraid to permanently cut ties with toxic people. Friendship should not be one sided.

A friend reaching out to you is a real one. I have friendships that lasted years and suddenly I'm the only one left reaching out and they just disappeared. Gave me a lot of trust issues. Nowadays my only friend who I can invite and is sure to go out with is my sister.

I'm glad you both found your way back to each other. There is no one I miss more than my ex-best friend. Sometimes, someone can break your heart and not know it. It hurts a little more when you are expecting it. Accenting the choices of the people you care the most about when it parts them from you is hard. My view on friendship has always been, If you guys are truly friends, then you should be able to work it out, or at the very least talk about it and try to fix things. If it's not the direction you want to approach, then you guys can just end on a good note and be thankful for the memory and leave it as that. What I hate the most is when people don't even have the guts and maturity to end on a good term. Instead, they just ghost on you and never give you an explanation or chance to talk about it. At the very least you can do is just tell them this isn't for you or somewhere along that line, instead of just zero explanation of anything and disappears, because that's just super immature and pretty toxic.

Instantly started crying. My ex best friend lowkey bullied me for a few years after our break up and recently she reached out. I finally told her how what she did impacted me and finally got the sincere apology I wanted. I will never forget, but talking it out and reconnecting like that was so relieving. I've been through a friendship breakup. She stopped talking to me when I told her I was going through a depression. I got invited to her bachelorette party 4 months later, but apparently, out of the 5 ppl there, I was the only one not invited to the wedding. I felt ridiculed, that I wanted to celebrate that event with her but she didn t care enough to want me there. It sort of alienated me from the friend group, we haven t spoken in 2 years now, still hurts.

When I lost my bff! Glad someone pointed at it, it broke my heart and I literally had problems driving back home as I met her when we were 13years old, and through my divorce at 30 years old I guess she got tired of my endless whining tbh. I couldn’t seem to recover for years, and she finally dumped our friendship at 33 years old. Yup! I didn’t know how to live my life without her!! It felt as my world was shaking, I planned us to be old women chatting and happy friends but nope. It was for the best though, once without her, but by bit I left my whining and had to face life face to face and did really well without her. Finally at almost 50 years old I don’t miss her much. But she broke my heart in ways that only family could do. I wish her the best, I’d never come back to that friendship bc when she left me I understood she could leave me again. I have said hi and no interest from her side. I’m finally over that. Recovering from some friendships is like losing a family member.
