Windependence Series - Master Level - Grade 4
Winner of the 2003 NBA William Revelli Composition Award. A Scottish ballad for wind band, Perthshire Majesty finds its musical roots in the heritage of David Gregory, the conductor who led the premiere. A gentle, elegant work with a broad, cinematic lyricism, Perthshire Majesty evolves with a sense of engaging inevitability.

This melody has been in my heart for 15 years since I played it in a community band, and I just remembered the name to find the piece. Amazing work

Conducted this as a student conductor for the last time last night, I’m gonna miss this piece so much.

Played this in high school in 2006 or 2007. Took me till now to figure out the name, but the melody has been in my head the past nearly 15 years.

Right Before COVID in our last concert I played the soprano saxophone in this piece. One of the most beautiful pieces I’ve ever played and heard, glad it was the last song we got to play as a band before these crazy times

This piece has brought the love of low notes for soprano clarinet (yes not low low but not what I’m used to cause of marching band and playing bass net for the last two concert seasons)

I played this in a workshop held by a university for highschool students. I had an alto flute on me, and so I was a substitute Cor Anglais.
