This is Alien Abduction, which is Gravitron ride. I am riding this ride. This is at the Orange County Fair at California, Costa Mesa.

Omg I remember going on this with my friend and the two of us cackling at all the flying backpacks. My new favorite carnival ride heheh:)

Also does anyone else notice the song at the beginning is like the most appropriate song they could’ve chosen?? “You spin my head right round right round when ya go down when ya go down down”

It's like a marry go round on steroids in my opinion.
Trust me I rode the one of these, and you feel like someone's laying two memory foam pillows on your chest. Sure it wasn't comfortable, but it was fun!
The science behind it is vary simple, it's a type of force called centripetal force which is a force applied on things that are moving in a circle motion! The force is stronger towards the outside and weaker in the center, creating a force in between the center and the outside of the spinning object. That's why the person in seat is not affected by the force, because the force is weaker in the center of the ride, and the people are getting affected by the force, because thats where the force is the most strongest.
And the more force applied to the people on the ride, the more they'll start to rise with the sliders.
And the reason why you go up is also the reason why the sliders are slanted, when the sliders are slanted that way the force going to your body are going to be stronger above you. And the force starts in between you and the person in the center, the force travels onto the sliders and goes to the top and the pushes on you to making you go up!
Also the reason why the other sliders aren't going up is because the on the bottom of the sliders you'll see a back Mat, that's a wight that holds the slides down, and when you lay on them, you're wight is what sides you up. If you don't want the slides to rise, you'll need to be ether so light weight where it won't lift your or just stay at the bottom and be heavy enough so it wouldn't lift you or just put less space on the slides, like standing up on it would do it, because the force is not getting any lift but the problem is, you can't really do it because the force is just going above the slides.
The same physics applies to rides like rotor!

When I was a kid, that ride was called The Gravitron. It was always operated by some dude in a sleeveless shirt and tattoos on his neck (smoking cigarettes on the ride) and looked like he was awake for 3 days on meth. Always blasting some 80's thrash metal. 😆
