Moment train smashes into car at level crossing.

No one was injured as a passenger train hit an empty car at a crossing at Woy Woy.
The crash has caused lengthy delays with no trains running in either direction.

If you look carefully at the video, you can see the car was actually traveling or pointing along the railway track towards Woy Woy station when the train hit it, it wasn't stuck under boom gates or anything like that. It was caused by a non english speaking Indian immigrant

I remember hearing about this on the news when it happened.
Apparently a middle aged man had turned to drive onto the railway tracks at the Woy woy station level crossing, because he had thought that the tracks were a road.
He abandoned the car once he realised his mistake, and he was able to get away from the intersection.
It was reported that the car was on the tracks for at least ten minutes before the boom gates lowered. However, the oncoming train only pulled the emergency brakes less than a minute before hitting the car.
About an hour later, passengers were able to get off the train. A lot of people were shocked, but thankfully, nobody was hurt or killed in this accident.
Local residents had said that this crossing is a hotspot for accidents, yet plans for removing the crossing and put an underpass in place have been scrapped.

Luckily no one was in car at the time.
I was on the train behind heading to Newcastle so we had to catch busses part of the way till they can get a crain to lift train off the car .. 🏗🚄🚗 thats how to turn a 2hr trip into a 6hr trip 😪
