I have been wearing rubber bands for 2 years. My orthodontist did a refinement scan 3 weeks ago and he said something about correcting my overbite a little bit more. When I came in to get new set of trays today, they even gave me more rubber bands. However, right before leaving, I found out that the new aligner sets didn’t have notches at all, which means I cannot wear rubber bands with them. I was very confused, and so was the orthodontist’s assistant. She went ask him and returned to me, saying “apparently, ‘they’ don’t require rubber bands with this new series as your bite is good enough now”. I was confused - who are “they” that she was referring to? Is my orthodontist supposed to decide if I need the rubber bands or not? I think this is very shady. They made it look like they forgot some details on their order/request, so that whoever made the trays didn’t make any notches for my new aligners, and now they are trying to cover it up. I and my friends think I still have a slight overbite, and there’s no way the aligners can fix that without the rubber bands. Would you please give me some advises? I’m so concerned right now.
