Happy Halloween everyone 🎃🦇👻 We hope you enjoyed this spooky (and very creepy) song! We have so much fun doing something a little different every once in a while, so thank you for allowing us to get creative and dress up sometimes! EDIT: We chose to sing "garden of shadows" instead of "garden of magic" because a huge inspiration for our version was the incredible cover by Erutan, and we wanted to maintain that more sinister approach throughout ours as well #sorrynotsorry 😉🖤

The mood of this song is both creepy and morbid, but somehow weirdly comforting? Like children who are depressed and abused, but are stolen away by faeries, away from their pain and sorrow.

Okay. So. I love Hocus Pocus, and i have a theory on the Sanderson Sisters. I believe Sarah is part Siren, which would explain her beauty and her ability to lure (in this case, children) to her with the sound of her voice, which to those who hear it, sounds angelic and soothing, which puts them in a hypnotic trance-like state. I think Mary may be part wolf, judging from her ability to smell the children and the fact she is loyal to Winifred, despite the manner in which she is treated, similar to how a dog would be loyal to it's owner. Winifred, however, is just a witch, and I believe that is why she treats her sisters so cruelly, aside from being the oldest, she is jealous of her sister's gifts.

I love how some people think that this song is about a woman who helps children, while it's actually about 3 witches who lures kids so that they can kill them and become younger (movie> Hocus Pocus)

Like, whilst your singing, the child would slowly go into their dream peacefully, without having any night terrors.

Childhood trauma is coming back, the first time I watched hocus pocus I was in kindergarten and that very song gave me nightmares because I thought if I heard it I would be snatched up and killed, aperently they were that bad I started sleepwalking (I’m not scared of it anymore now that I’m a adult and you guys did it beautifully)

As the witch flew by the window of a little girls house, she heard soft crying. She slowly turned around and hovered outside the window. She sang and the window open. The girl, a 6 year old with black hair and white eyes crawled out. The girl was captivated by the music and the beautiful woman in front of her. The witch, named Jade, sang until the girl's eyes became heavy and closed in sleep. She scooped her up and brought her to a small garden, filled with plants used in potions and brews. "Follow sweet children, I'll show thee the way, into the calm and the quiet." She whispered as she laid her down and tucked a sprig of rosemary in her hair. "The times come to play, here in my garden of shadows." She sat up as she heard the lyric finished. The other voice was a different child, hidden behind the trees. And another behind the wall. They all padded forwards and sat in a circle around Jade and sang. The times come to play, here in our garden of shadows~" The children faded and the voices disappears. Jade stands and looks at the girl. Her body in a mist and her hair floats near her. You know what you must do, miss." The girl said, bowing her head. Jade smiled and grabbed her broom. "Of course little Raven. Sleep well."

Wrapped in the movie package, few people appreciated how good, and how dark, this song really is.

I never realized until now how much this song makes me think of Once Upon A December from Anastasia. I think a lot of it is the cadence, melody and the clockwork jewelry box in the background.

I was glad to see them harmonize about halfway through. That was my favorite of this.
