My grandfather used to get his Manchester Guardian by mail in Boston Massachusetts. The paper stock was so thin it was like butterfly wings. It had a certain sound when the flighty pages were turned. He was a professor of history of technology, dear stubborn socialist’ born in 1898. Thank you Guardian.

Ironic given how quick you were to throw Assange under the bus.

The emerald jewel plot sounds almost too insane to be real. Surely there's more to that story.

The Guardian is a salve to the moneyed class who feel guilty about their comfortable lives.

Such a beautiful history that many have dedicated their lives to... don't give that away for political reasons, think of those that came before you... be impartial and present news as they are, without any added coat of paint.

I read the guardian for many years, but now it's on a par with the mail . Poor stories mixed with bad journalism. Shame .

You were once a great newspaper. You're now a bad parody of yourself.

A paper founded with money made from slavery, also was vocally against freeing the slaves I the 1860s. Obviously wasn't always liberal. By their own standards they should close the paper down.

The guardian used to be good, but after they caved in to the government and smashed all of their hard drives after breaking the snowden story they have towed all government talking points.

A bit if trivia. The Guardian's first issue came out on the 5th May 1821, the very same day that Napoleon Bonaparte had died on the British island of St Helena.
