policy in China is that pickups will be scrapped after 15 years and are limited driving in some roads in cities. but this policy doesn't apply to SUV. that's why this car is designed, looks like a pickup but registered as a SUV.

Here in Australia (where we're getting a tonne of Chinese EVs) I was always sad the that back in the early 2000s the GM Holden SSX concept never made it to manufacturing. This is giving me vibes of that. At the right price I think it could be a winner as a weekend adventurer and weekday family hauler.

honestly, its vehicles like these that excite me, because people like to say the Chinese automakers have zero imagination and always copy from the west. But that is 100% original and awesome. Not for me cuz I've always hated that vehicle shape (BMW series 6 and whatever the mercedes one is ew...) but it shows that while everyone else was sleeping on their designs, these designers were making something new, and pushing innovation while everyone else just gave us the same thing, just slightly updated. Today i looked at 7 seater Toyota Landcruiser 300 that sells for a staggering, 150k USD, with such old fashioned tech i cant help but compare it to the U8 from BYD that retails for the same price. Legacy automakers are getting left behind because they cling to their identities too much.
