The people of D.C. have been denied their full voting rights for more than 200 years.

Join an important national panel discussion on Thursday, September 23 at 5:30pm ET / 2:30pm PT with experts to discuss the racist roots of denying D.C. residents statehood rights, parallels between voter suppression in the state of Georgia and D.C., and how lack of statehood continues to harm communities in D.C. today.

Panelists will include:
• George Derek Musgrove, co-author of Chocolate City: A History of Race and Democracy in the Nation's Capital
• Andrea Young, Executive Director, ACLU of Georgia
• Jamal Holtz, Lead Advocate for D.C. Statehood, 51 for 51
• Monica Hopkins, Executive Director, ACLU of the District of Columbia

What can we do to move the needle? Getting friends and family who live out of state to take action has been an uphill battle. Those who are a minority in a red state feel that reaching out to their representaives is pointless.
