Basically, it puts an unsettling scene, and makes it funny in a very subtle way that you won't even notice.

Creepy how when Pennywise dances, his whole body moves, including his hair, but his head and face stay mostly still. Creepy as hell, but still a really cool effect done.

He's dancing, watching Beverly and just daring her to run. I like the creepy little laugh from the Pennywise in the Box

I adore bizarre cinematography choices like this. It's so weird but it truly adds to the tone. The way it's edited so it stays centered to his face is truly memorable.

This scene baffles me because I don’t know if it’s trying to be funny or scary. If it’s funny, then it works, because it’s a goofy-looking dance that LITERALLY the same one from Monsters Inc. (during the play scene. “Put that thing back where it came from, or so help me”) If it’s supposed to be scary, it fails because it’s goofy. I’m surprised people found this scary. Maybe if they saw it out of context it’d been considered funny.

If you look closely when the smoke comes on, you can see Pennywise plugging his ears.
