I must admit I was quite impressed even now when you started going down the slope, did not expect that feature from an 88 game! I think it looks quite nice, with all the different conditions and environments. Doesn't seem particularly fun though!

I had the PC version of this. As a kid who was obsessed by the Sierra Cosworth, getting this as a budget title in the early '90s was briefly very exciting and then quite disappointing as I discovered it was firmly in the era of beeper and EGA. There's some nice stuff for the time (I do like the gear change animation!) but it was definitely showing its age against the big polygon-based titles of 1991-1992.

Along with Test Drive 2, Stunt Car Racer, the Lotus games and Vroom, this was a fantastic experience on Amiga 500

I used to love this game as a kid, maybe it was better left in my memories!

Another great review, thanks :)

I remember this game looking better too! I don't think it was your faulty memory or the mandela effect. I also remember, and I feel certain of this memory, the co-driver would call out directions "Easy Left", "Hard Right: etc (I have very strong memories of those). That both really impressed and annoyed me back in the day because I felt like it never helped me to turn (and like I was being criticised) lol. I feel like I recall there where fords on the road and the trees where really thick at the sides of the road (I wonder if its a track thing or there are multiple release versions).

I remember being really excited about the graphics and sound, but then I just kept crashing into every bend (and espcially the trees! OMG the trees).

I loooved that game. I found it quite good for the time. Nothing compared to Lotus Esprit or Vroom but still.

A game I still own. Love it but it’s one (one?) of those games I’m terrible at 😂
Great feature mate 👍🏻

I had that rally racing game for my
Amiga 500 back in the mid 2010's.

It may not be one of the best games ever,
but it was fun to play 😺👍🕹️.

Even the graphics were amazing,
and the music 🎵🎶 is brilliant 😺👍🕹️.

This would of been fun back in the day. It hasn't aged well though.

Admittedly I haven't gone back and PLAYED it yet but literally everything about this is exactly as I remember it apart from the sound I didn't get on PC.

Looks decent enough for a car racer to enjoy.

Great stuff GoG! Kudos for reviewing a game/genre you don’t like much yourself (personally I love racing games). Appreciated!!

Like you, I didn’t play this one much, but I remember being impressed by the different driving conditions. Night time, snow etc. I guess we were easily impressed back then! 😂

I do remember this game and it was really hard when I was a kid. I also remember it for being the only game that mentions Harrogate quite so much.

"Don't make friends with trees and 💩". The trees could be a problem, but I think you'll be okay with the 💩. I don't ever recall cows being allowed to roam freely around any rally course.

I think I'll stick to F1 GP.

Ha ha! The foggy level is ridiculous. How on earth are you supposed to drive when you can only see four pixels in front of you?

Was Red Rat European Chuck E Cheese? :)

Never liked this one, because the playing area is very small and it makes me fuious😅, it’s 1/3 of the screen for god sake! The inside car it’s original, but not so hughe.
