Why Brand Choice Does (and Doesn't) Matter (RC Racing)

Hey again, Roach here. In this video I’ll be going over a few reasons as to why the brand you choose is both very important, yet not very important at all, I'll also be going over a question that many have asked me in the past.

What I’d Run -
Kits -

Motors -

ESCs -

Servos -

Great video, i'm coming back to RC after 26 years away and going with Tekno. Sorry for your experience on that page you mentioned. I used to be a Losi diehard, but they are a little different now. I'm looking for a 2wd buggy since Tekno doesn't offer one, based on your video I'm going to check out the Mugen and Schumacher

Compared to all of the rc groups on fb i see. Tekno has the least issues. Best build quality and easiest to set up. Customer support is pretty on point too.

Great vid as always man. Quick suggestion. Bump up your audio levels a tad bit. Your vids audio are about 0.5 to 0.75 the amount of most others. Keep up the awesome.

Tekno has 50% off warranty program and they are durable as hell . IMO Tekno is the cheapest to own

Roach, check out the Infinity IFB8 buggy next. Solid pillow ball style car I've gotten the chance to run out here in AZ and it's pretty dang good with a generic setup in it.

This is exactly why I only use SERPENT Kits because no one has them. Don't be sheeps folks ;)

Thanks for your videos. As someone just getting back into the hobby after a 15 year hiatus, the info you’ve provided is a massive help

Credit to for getting the AGAMA and I know it was for our sake… when I get a buggy I want something that everyone doesn’t have… I’m going to go serpent… any top level buggy will do the trick. The rest is all marketing… parts can be purchased online and in advance for every brand….
Get something to stand out from the crowd and I bet you will be proud of your unique car.

The thing that really annoys me about brand choice are the people that treat it like a religion. Choose one an then stick with it forever. Far too many people I know buy a car because of the name written on the box rather than the content of the box.
IMO the product itself should matter more than the brand and innovation/progress/quality should be rewarded by sales.

Also I can confirm the LD3 ist surprisingly tough.

It would be wonderful if TLR replenished their parts stock in June instead of July. I need to replace the front gearbox since I crashed hard. I purchased the TLR 22X-4 Elite because of nostalgia, always wanted a Losi buggy circa 1990's and couldn't afford it, and due to not knowing which brand to go with coming in to the current market. I can wait but it seems odd since their kits are going to be available in June?! I suppose every brand has its problems. I also just replaced the OEM drive train with the Matt Olsen Design (MOD) kit because I got tired of TLR's front center drive shaft ball joint chipping and losing the cva pin. ugh.

MSB1 top plates keep snapping and the rear shock standoffs keep bending too! I went B7, but a buddy has the MSB1. We think the chassis flexing is causing the servo horn to break through the top plate.

I have been lucky with my B7, broken arm and a couple gouges in the chassis, but I have also smacked the crap out of it a handful of times. Maybe I am just lucky, but I seriously am considering running a 6.4 instead if I start to have problems like others have.

Because the B7 was designed by a touring car guy. A guy that ran awesomatix touring cars ...
Awesomatix has a reputation of having very little durability points. A brittle touring car frfr
