Story 2: As someone who had a violent temper as a kid, I was hard to deal with. No one would blame you for keeping yourself safe. Your health and safety is your priority. I agree, if the kid was to show improvement, then yes, work it out. If not, either keep two households or keep your peace.

28:56 I think OP needs to look at who initiates the contact they have. Is she always the one who calls/texts? It could be the friend is ok with talking to her, but doesn’t care to initiate it. I do find it odd that they talk every single day, but just sit in silence. I text my friends A LOT, and will text while watching a movie/TV, but that’s text — not a telephone call.
Either OP isn’t nearly as important to the friend as friend is to OP, or maybe OP is better looking and friend would be “upstaged”?

On the touchy FIL story. Even just hearing about it sounds and feels icky. Let's say it was innocent and FIL meant nothing by it, that doesn't make OPs feelings invalid. Maybe if he didn't move his hand or fingers it wouldn't have been so creepy but that's still too intimate in my opinion


PSA to all men, if it's not your wife/gf don't touch her waist or small of her back. I'd say just put your hand on the outer curve of her shoulder (if she's even okay with physical contact) and don't move it during pictures, no thumb rubbing or creepy slow stroking or anything.

Story two: Did we miss the part where the child has been taken off his meds because of "insurance"? Of course he is acting badly, given that he is in withdrawal as his necessary medications are being withheld. This retired health care professional is well aware that drugs (especially SSRIs) are overprescribed for children, but once they become dependent on them the results of denial are terrible.

How about we get that kid back on his meds? Were they neglected because the parents are arguing about who should pay? Does somebody think they are not needed? I would suggest that in this case they are vital.

In the meantine, under no circumstances should OP allow the child to be moved in until his behaviour is stabilized. Thise who disagree really, really need to do a little research into the side effects of Seroquel, Zoloft and Paxil, most likely the drugs the child is on. Violent behaviours head the list, including murder and suicide. This child NEEDS somebody to do something soon.

Last story: I had met a girl in middle school who I considered my best friend/sister. I called her mom 'mom' and she considered me as her child in every single way to the point where she would tell me about "aunts and uncles" I've never met.

Well, mom started treating me really badly for some reason and I found out it was because my so-called best friend was lying about me behind my back to literally everyone, but we stayed super close. I wondered why people would stop being my friend and boyfriends would ghost me. It was because of her the whole time.

When I was having my kids, she never showed up once for them but I was there when she had hers even after years of no contact. We don't talk at all anymore and I just found out she lost custody of both her kids and is gone off drugs.

Depending on you and your spouses income, with married filing jointly you can save more on taxes than if you were filing as unmarried single. Some people will get legally divorced to save on taxes. It just depends on how much each of you makes, and what bracket it puts you in, together and separate. US taxes are goofy, you can do it for free yourself using freetaxusa, but if you have any sort of complicated situation, you’re gonna want a tax professional.
