Lyrics: Warden that wants peace and quiet.

The warden: Spitting 56 db notes every second

As a father of someone who absolutely loves your Mincraft raps. I'm actually not mad about having to listen to this every single day in the car on the way to school until the next one gets released.

To me its so surreal to imagine someone who escaped the ancient city and has ptsd from it and now is quiet with everything he does.

1:39 "only I can vibe with the music."

_stylish vibe ensues_

I love how despite the Warden being arguably deadlier then the ENDER DRAGON. He seems to be warning the player about what to not do. Like not making any noises when he's around and explaining how he attacks. Most notably explaining how he just hates loud noises and simply wants things to be quiet

"I shout this straight from the heart, my ribcage is a stage that emits soundwaves in the dark" actually gives me chills with the delivery

I like how the warden is casual reading a book in the beginning and a tutorial on how to remove eyes in the ending part. Very consistent

The constant fluctuations between eerily calm and EXTREME DANGER are just so spot-on for the warden. The bull's outdone himself once again :)

Damn this was 100% worth the wait, I love the quiet instrumental in contrast with Dan’s aggressive delivery for a the Warden. And the chorus is by far the best I’ve heard in any Minecraft rap

Ekrcoaster did again a phenomenal job with the animation too

Late to the party myself, but I really like how Dan Bull characterized the Warden here. He's probably the most terrifying of the hostile Minecraft mobs he's made a rap for, and probably the most realistic in his violence and methods. First of all: this is probably the most terrified we've seen the player in a Dan Bull Minecraft rap. He looks scared sometimes in the other ones, but here, his face looks like he's on the verge of tears for the majority of the song and he continuously loses his balance from being terrified and battered. You see him getting tossed around by the Warden, and it actually leaves physical damage. Like when he's visibly winded at 2:12 after being thrown into the wall by the Warden, and you see him touching his face after losing teeth from making such a hard impact. He also looks scared while being trapped in the box with the Sculk mushrooms, and maintains that expression even after being fully drugged and strung up by the Warden in the room with all the mobs. The Warden also sets the mood at the beginning by bringing up the possibility of abuse unprompted at 0:25 and attempting to physically crowd the player against the door with his size while still acting friendly. If he was immediately aggressive like in the game, it would probably be less horrifying, but he's both pretending and not even trying to pretend to be the player's friend, which makes him extra unnerving.

In general, the Warden's shown as a mob full of contradictions in this song, which still fits well with how he is in the game proper. To begin with, he tells the player to be quiet because he's trying to read a book... Except he can't see, which already tips you off to something being wrong in his head. (He also calls the player "stupid" for apparently not being able to read the sign, even though it's really him that can't read. Looks like he has an issue with projecting his issues onto other people. He also seems to accidentally address the Creeper while doing this, making his lack of self-awareness more obvious.) Call it being delusional, I guess--it's a theme that seems to carry through the song. The fact that he often tells the player to be quiet right before suddenly shouting at him also indicates either that he's lying about his hyperacusis (probably not, given the lore), or that he's so violent/insane, possibly from his hyperacusis, that he'll disregard his own comfort just for the sake of harming the player. He converses with the player in two main modes: a genial voice with a smile, and an overtly aggressive, loud voice with raw anger, sometimes within the same sentence (1:55 is probably the most prominent example, where he shocks the player into falling over). He might be switching his tone up on purpose to unbalance the player, like many actual abusers, and he mixes the two somewhat when he rhetorically asks the player (who can't even hear him--looks like he can't help himself) if he's stupid at 1:39. He taunts the player about running to his mom as he tosses him around, right before he hits the wall. He also makes it more difficult for the player to actually follow his instructions when he shouts lines like "AND STAY BLOODY CALM!", like he's hoping for the player to slip up so he can punish him. And while the Warden vaguely threatens the player with abuse at the beginning of the song, he's very quick to say that he's not abusive at 1:42, shifting from vibing with the music to frowning around the room (full of mobs, including the player strung up and sedated, probably being held hostage there somehow). He even tries to justify himself to the unconscious player by invoking his hyperacusis as an explanation, although of course his words are going unheard. Nobody brought it up except for him (perhaps fearing for their lives, like the Enderman darting his eyes around while the Warden is grooving), so perhaps he has some level of self-awareness about his violence. But he's too much of a monster to stop, and uses his condition as an excuse to have a tiny fuse and kill the player. As seen with the flower scene, he relishes in hearing the intimate thoughts and schemes of other people (I'm guessing the souls trapped in his ribcage? Not sure). Either he's been driven mad by it, or he just likes ripping people open, more or less. In the end, he continues to assert his right to be violent, as he's done throughout the video by denying his abusiveness and justifying his actions towards the player. And the player has the "right" to be silent, although it's not a right but a burden placed upon him by the "awarder".

Even his physical appearance is deceiving, which is also true in the game. When we see him run, he's exactly as awkward and shambling as a creature as physically bulky as him would be expected to be. And yet, his movements can be unnervingly fluid and fast when he's sufficiently disturbed. We see him grooving with the music at 1:42 in a chill manner, then abruptly snap his head around with a frown just as sudden. Something similar happens between 2:16 and 2:18, where the rap is the same speed as it's always been, but he slides between locations quickly from word to word, suggesting a degree of uncontrollability beneath the low-fi hip hop beats. Given that he just threw the player at a wall hard enough to knock out several teeth, the sheer speed at which he's looking for him becomes terrifying as the seemingly inevitable draws near.

(In the alternate ending, he successfully removes the player's eyes and attaches them to his own eyeless face, smiling at his fellow horrified mobs like he did something great. He continues to be delusional, that is.)

Anyway, great job, Dan! Loved this song and EKRCoaster's animation for it.

Bro, The Warden Is Like A Librarian.
1: Hates it when people loud.
2: Gives a warning.

Has to be my favourite Minecraft rap so far because of this:
1:53
"Better stay quieter than ASMR, or YOU MAY FIND WHY I'M A PAIN IN THE ARSE!!"
That had no reason to hit as hard as it did.

May already be a popular opinion, but I really think the Warden was what Minecraft needed. A difficult almost conventionally unbeatable force of nature-type of enemy. They handle it super well too.

this is so adicting. the transitions between soft, smooth lyricism and loud bombastic lyricism is just...indescribably awesome for my ears

The fact that you guys can make such detailed lyrics on quite simple mobs is pretty impressive. Makes me wonder what the next one will be. I guess the Wither and Ender Dragon still need one
