When I was young, I hated playing with dolls, I liked robots and toy cars best. And during my birthday parties, instead of pink, I liked to wear blue, Bart Simpson, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. To do otherwise is conforming to the harmful gender assymetries imposed by a patriarchal society. I am therefore thankful to my parents for being so cool and wise and for having guided me well. Mark, to me, is adorable for his special affinity with Hello Kitty. It is my hope that he gets to meet Hello Kitty in Sanrio Puroland and/or ride the Hello Kitty bullet train in Japan. Kidding aside, a real man is a man who is responsible, kind, industrious, and, among other admirable traits, a real man is a man who recognises the rights and dignity of a woman. Being a real man has nothing to do with colours and toxic machismo. A real man cries as a legitimate expression of human emotion and he does not need to be macho. As an aside, I implore parents of small young children in ensuring that they'll do their best to guide their child/ren into becoming morally responsible adults---in case of a male child, into becoming fine men who respect the dignity, freedom, and physical integrity of women.
