Judas Iscariot was the secondary antagonist of the 2004 Mel Gibson film The Passion of the Christ. Judas betrayed Jesus Christ to the authorities, setting in motion events that would culminate in the death and resurrection of Christ. - Judas is first seen in a temple prior to midnight where a group of Pharisees headed by Caiaphas offer him thirty pieces of silver to lead them and the authorities to Jesus' location. After informing them and the temple guards/soldiers that he would kiss the one who was Jesus, that was the man that they should arrest, Judas then leads the soldiers/temple guards to the forested Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus and some of his disciples were spending the evening. He walked up to Jesus, and kissed him, to which Jesus asked if Judas intended to betray him with such act.
