It's FINALLY Here!! Singer and Songwriter, Rebekah Sorensen's first single, Choose To Believe.
I wrote this song back in December 2017. I was conversing with friends and family who had encountered their own personal struggles, some struggling with their faith. As my thoughts were drawn out in prayer and seeking to truly understand for myself why I personally believe what I believe, especially when I am personally struggling, the words for this song came to my heart and mind.
Regardless of our background, religion, or personal struggles/trials, I believe we each ultimately choose what we want to believe. And what a blessing that is! Even though we don’t always get to choose the experiences, hurt, loss, or disappointments we encounter in this life. We still ultimately get to choose what we still believe. Despite my personal trials, I choose to Believe that God is real. He is good. And because I choose to believe Him and believe in Him, he helps me battle those struggles better than I could do on my own.
Whitney L. Clayton said: "Belief and testimony and faith are not passive principles. They do not just happen to us. Belief is something we choose—we hope for it, we work for it, and we sacrifice for it. We will not accidentally come to believe in the Savior and His gospel any more than we will accidentally pray or pay tithing. We actively choose to believe, just like we choose to keep other commandments."
I echo his words. And I choose to Believe. I choose to believe in a God who loves each of us and is anxious to teach, empower, and bless us. And a Savior, who not only lived but lives for us today. And because of Him I choose to believe Him and believe in Him. Even if I witnessed all of the miracles and wonders in Heaven, I would still have to choose to believe.
Lyrics:
If you had seen the star or seen the Christ child’s face
Would that give you cause to believe?
If you were even there as Angels watched nearby
With wise men and the Shepherd’s care
Would that help you know He’s there?
Choose to believe
To have Faith before you see
Even all the wonders could still make You wonder
Unless you choose to believe
If you saw Him breaking bread, heal the sick, and raise the dead.
He taught thousands the truth, but would that be proof for you?
And what about Gethsemane, when He was brought to His knees?
Where He suffered, then died on the cross which supplied the way for you to
Choose to believe
To have Faith before you see
Even all the wonders could still
Make you wonder
Unless you choose to believe
Even now, after feeling that stirring, that burning
When asking for truth of what’s right
Will you choose to remember what you’ve felt and seen?
So you can turn to the Lord and say
I Choose to believe
To have Faith before I see
I know all the wonders could still make Me wonder
So I choose to
I Choose to believe
To have Faith before I see
I know all the wonders could still make Me wonder
So I choose to believe
I know all the wonders could still make Me wonder
So I choose to believe
