In this video we talk about how much solar costs in an RV. We discuss two different brands to base your RV solar system on, Victron Energy and Renogy. Our system is based off of Victron equipment, but Renogy may be a better choice if you have a tighter budget, but still want to go off grid.

Thank you so much for taking the time and making the effort to put together a very professional presentation of what you did with all of the cost detail and the alternatives...Greatly appreciated!

First and foremost, I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to explain in detail from start to finish your solar system install. Your white board approach with all the components and defining how they work in conjunction to the overall system was eye opening. From solar panel install Part 1 to overall cost of your system. Taking the time to show individual components with different today battery manufactures is just priceless. You have a new subscriber and will forward your solar install series. I will be installing similar system in a few months using all Victron components. Is it difficult to integrate VE software to communicate with all the components? Thank you

I am in the process of putting in a ~2700 watt array with a solark 5k & 2 egl Batteries. I also swapped out the RV AC for a mini split. I plan on sharing videos in the future.

Nice setup there for sure. We have an Alliance Valor with solar plus. All Renogy equipment. We did add 1 more battery which takes us to 400 AH. So far it has worked good. This is our first experience with anything solar. It’s nice because we can boondock and Harvest Host more. I’d love to expand and upgrade equipment later on. Thanks for the video and the way you broke things down.

Watched all three of your videos, nice job. I am getting ready to install a mixed system, that's how it worked out. 4 200 watt renogy solar panels, a mppt rover 60 solar charger. I have 4 100 watt renogy lithium batteries. We have a multiplus 2 as we have a solitude fifth wheel. Getting the lynx distributor. We harvest host some boondock a little but not crazy. Good video

Hi! Thanks for the great solar videos and your diagram. I copied it from the screen and then used an 8.5x11.5 sheet of watercolor practice paper (heavier weight) to enlarge the diagram (used boxes and approx shapes instead of the cutouts you used) adding color coded lines for the wiring. I think I might understand this a little bit now! I currently have 3, 170W Zamp solar panels, paired with a Zamp PWM charge controller (factory, 1panel and controller/dealer, 2panels) installed. I added a Victron smart shunt. I have 2, 200ah Battle Born LiFePo4 batteries. I want to add the fuses, breakers, switch charge controllers (remove PWM, add MPPT), and add the distributor, Multi-Plus II, Cerbo GX, & GX Touch. and battery quick disconnect switch.
My question is, will I need to add panels and or batteries to run at least one AC, and large TV or the electric fireplace and large TV? I need the AC in summer, fireplace in winter and my husband must have the sports channel to survive! Lol. I have done RVing since the mid sixties, generally boondocking so the new 5th wheel and all is luxuries are very new!! I never thought the system would come without an inverter! I do have two 4500i gas generators but would much prefer to run off solar!

I do have a question, I have the 800 watts of solar. I could go up to 600 amp hours of batteries. Should I move to 600 vs 400 in original plan. Why I have extra batteries is a long story ha ha

Great video once again.. can we build this system in baby steps, and keep it functional at each step? For example, maybe… step 1 add lifepo battery, step 2) add suitcase solar and solar mppt 3) roof solar 4) etc…. Thanks
