I was in a situation without electricity for 3 weeks and the thing we liked the absolute best was dried beans that we sprouted in water. Beside all the dried, canned, in-oil things it having something that resembles fresh vegetables was a real lifesaver.

3-minute pasta, noodles or oatmeal can be cooked using room temperature water. Some canned beans can be eaten without rinsing. If you happen to be vegan you can buy once-a-week b12 supplements that stay good for up to a decade.

Getting enough energy without cooked food can be tough. If you have some oil, add a teaspoon to everything you eat. Canola stays fresh for a long time and has a good fat profile.

Oh, and a crank-radio or crank-flashlight can be great if you forget your batteries :)

Speaking of survival - could you do a video on Threads (1984 film), or possibly one of the games in the Fallout series?
In any case, keep up the good work. Finally someone talking about nuclear physics as a main subject.

THANK YOU. I know some of your reaction videos get way more views (and they are indeed fun and informative!), but as a person who lives in New York City, I really appreciate videos like this one!

Very informative, could you do a video about naval propulsion systems?

It would be cool to see you play the game "60 Seconds!" as it is literally just prepping and surviving in a bunker during a nuclear fallout. The 60 seconds portion is how much time you have to collect your essentials and get in your bunker before the nuclear bombs explode.

This is the coolest channel. I just subscribed last night and I'm still binging. If you're interested in a good book on surviving a nuclear attack, check out "Pulling Through" by Dean Ing. Unfortunately, it is out of print. The first half of the book is fiction, but the second half of the book talks about things like how to improvise an air filter, and how to make a dosimeter.

While much of the list are no-brainers, I never thought of air filtration! Thanks! Also important to periodically refresh supplies, as they do go bad (food rots, batteries self-discharge, etc.). Basic tools always important (esp can opener for food and corkscrew for wine!).

Speaking of power generation, what would happen to solar panels in a nuclear war? Would the blast and/or fallout affect it at all?

If you haven't heard of it. I'd like to recommend the Chernobyl Liquidator Simulator Demo. It's a rather intense demonstration of the Chernobyl disaster. You could make a video of playing as well as discussing your understand of the nuclear physics.

I wouldn't want to survive a nuclear bomb. I watched the movie Threads which is available for free on YouTube. The aftermath would be worse than the blast itself.

I love your work. you and "The Atomic Age" YouTube channel need to partner up on nuclear topics.

So, Elina, а ты имеешь все 10пунктов у себя в чемоданчике, на случай ядерного взрыва? 😜☺️😘

Thank god! First time i hear someone who thinks like me that having documents and books (not only for buillding back to normal life but also keeping the mental state ) in a bunker is important

I’d also recommend something for entertainment. Like books or something. If you are stuck there for a good period of time, even boredom can become deadly.

Maybe I can just flee to Finland. They have a huge underground shelter system there. Maybe half of what's on the list is already there.
