Follow Maxo, a warrior of the Chimu Empire, as he navigates the Inca-conquered streets of Chan Chan to receive a secret message.

--

It’s daybreak in the city of Chan Chan, and former soldier Maxo has been up all night fretting. Last night, a friend stopped by and instructed him to go to the plaza at noon to receive an important message. But with the recent defeat of their army and the overthrow of the king, answering this mysterious summons will be dangerous. Gabriel Prieto outlines a day in the life of a Chimu warrior.

Lesson by Gabriel Prieto, directed by Qian Shi.

People underestimate the Inca's influence in history, I live in Mendoza, Argentina, their technology and infrastructure has had such influence in my province that we keep the "Inca Sun" in our flag.

It’s so cool to hear about the history of Pre-Colombian South America! It’s a great reminder that the people and kingdoms were 3 dimensional people with their ow struggles & fights long before the Spanish arrived

Oscar Gabriel Prieto Burmester is one of the best archaeologists in the world, a pride for Peru, and thanks to him many discoveries have been made, attracting attention from abroad. Thanks to all who make this possible.

I was about to say sadly, the uprising was a failure and the Inca burned the city to the ground as punishment. The Inca were pretty savage to the people they ruled over. Maybe next, could you do one on the Incan Civil War that happened right before the Spanish showed up? South American history is very interesting before the Europeans came. Thanks.

I as a Bangladeshi don't know much about pre colonial American history. I would love to know more and request TED Ed to make more videos on the history of the Americas.

The site of Chan Chan is really magnificent and really cheap to visit too. I‘ve been there in 2017

Oh yeah... I live In Trujillo, near where all this happened. History says that Incas and Chimus fought for like 12 years, then the Incas took every skilled labourer to Cuzco, Specially the ones that knew how to find underground water. So yeah, No surprise that the Chimu saw an opportunity in the Spanish Conquistators.

Seeing the incas as the villans is a breath of fresh air. Usually they're represented as victims of the spanish, but surely they were the victimizer for a lot of people.

Y’all should do more videos like this! I got to visit the temple of the sun as a kid, it’s a Moche temple in Trujillo. It’s got a few stories worth telling
