This video explains how you can install GPS antenna that is supplied with VLine VL2 CarPlay and Android Auto Navigation and Infotainment system, on top of the car dashboard.

It is very important that there are no metal parts that will be above the antenna, for good reception.

If you are using CarPlay or Android Auto, we still recommend installing GPS antenna, as it will help to preserve the battery life of your iPhone or Android Smartphone.

What is VLine VL2 System?

VLine VL2 Android Navigation and Infotainment System for Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infiniti, Honda, Acura and many other vehicles provides Google and Waze Maps, Spotify, Pandora music apps, CarPlay and Android Auto to the factory stereo.

all integrated to your factory stereo.

All factory features keep functional with the installation of VLine VL2 system. You can easily switch back and forth between the backup camera, FM radio, and VLine, CarPlay or Android Auto interface.

Dude who installed my head unit mounted it to the top of the head unit and under the dash kit, (on the metal) and I’m wondering if it’s partly the cause of intermittent interference, would be best to move it out of there right?

Would I still need to install the GPS from GROM if my car came with GPS/NAV already? Thanks.

GPS antennas require line of sight from satellites to receive the satellite info that is transmitted by several satellites. Two are required for your receiver to interpret the data and calculate your location. This must be a cellular radio on top of a GNS antenna. Which utilizes cell towers as well as any satellites it may see now and then.
There's a reason why you see the GNS only units installed on the roof of vehicles equipped with GPS Nav, XM radio. OnStar etc. With no cellular option. They need to see the satellite.
