How do you feel about the Star Wars prequels?

When you are talking about the Star Wars fan base, you have to take into account generations and whether we are talking about hardcore or the more causal fan.

Boomers either took their kids to see the Originals or the Prequels.

Gen X grew up with the Original trilogy and the early days of the EU.

Millennials (Gen Y) grew up with the Prequel trilogy and the Clone Wars.

Gen Z with the Clone Wars and the Disney era.

Hardcore fans were into the EU and lore, the books, games and comics as well as the movies.

Casual fans are mainly into the movies and maybe a show or book or game.

——

What has changed is that the Millennials grew up and now makeup probably the biggest segment of the fandom. So it stands to reason that the fans haven’t really changed their opinion of the prequels unless you are ignoring all of that and just measuring the overall fandom attitude towards the prequels.

I was 8 years old when stars wars was released to say I was a fan would be an understatement. I disliked the prequels when they first aired for a few reasons chief among them I didn’t realize I had aged out of the story having said that I tried to watch the Disney prequels I really did didn’t care for the force awakens and tried about 6 times to watches the next one but fell asleep each time so I gave up

It’s so interesting how the prequels have transformed over time! What was once seen as just wooden dialogue and flashy CGI is now appreciated for its depth and world-building. It’s great to see younger fans embracing the saga in new ways! What’s your favorite part of the prequels?

'88 dude here. I love the OT and I never had any problems with the PT. But the release on Disneys ST definitely made me appreciate the PT more. ❤

Let’s not forget about the Lego Star Wars videos that came out and made my generation love the prequels even more.

The Prequel Trilogy was my childhood. Glad my dad bought original DVDs for the first and second one, but unfortunately our go-to shop here in my country closed down, and couldn't get a hold of the third one until I learned how to pirate stuff. I love the games and the movies lol.

"A reevaluation of [the prequels] has taken place over time" is funny to say while also repeatedly giving the rational that the Rey trilogy is even worse making it only better by comparison.

I never hated the Star Wars prequels at any point in my life. If anything, I find the hatred towards the prequels to be quite insufferable. Especially when that hatred cause several actors like Jake Lloyd and Armed Best to develop some problems and even fears.

Certainly, a reminder that quality is not the only factor in a memorable film!

Do people actually sit down and actively watch the prequels (or sequels)? Like, I can understand tuning in when they’re on TV or something, but actually choosing to watch them? Why?? Why wouldn’t you choose to watch the best of the SW movies (New Hope and Empire) instead?

It's crazy even now ScreenRant is still appreciated the prequels.

There's a lot to be critical about, but SW owes a lot to the prequels. General Grievous, Darth Maul and one of the greatest Sabre duels of all time, Clone Wars and Ewan McGregor as a worthy Obi Wan. As weak as they were, the prequels at least told a story. The Disney sequels told no story, just some visuals glued together by nostalgic call-backs.

When prequels came out, my friends and I were teens and we loved them.

2019: Sequels are colossal dumpsterfires.
2039: Sequels are misunderstood masterpieces.

I've never hated the prequels. Ive critised it for its flaws, but I didn't hate it. Never have. The Disney sequels on the other hand, those I hate.
