There's a world of difference between a person who is true to his convictions by using a legitimate excuse to circumvent military service, and one who goes but abandons his post, or, worse, totally lies about his service. Trump served his nation as POTUS.

My best friend joined the military after 9/11, stayed in for almost 15 years, tanker tough, but after our disastrous withdrawal in 2021, he asked me what it was all for?
It was one of our last conversations before he took his own life a couple of weeks later on the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

What he saw and experienced over there affected him for the rest of his life, and he NEVER got over it. When Walz lies about his combat experience, it dishonors my friend's memory and the others like him. They made sacrifices that can never be repaid, and Walz doesn't get to co-op their experiences for some cheap political points.

I served in the reserves for 13 years and got out at an E-7 SFC due to a professional opportunity in another state and there was not a medical unit to transfer to in my new location. Much like Walz, I was in the First Sergeant school when I left the service. Much like Walz, I had been appointed to and served as the unit's First Sergeant for 4 months and never thought of ever calling myself a First Sergeant after I got out, as it was a title that I did not truly earn. Walz's claim is absolutely despicable.
