No industry can make someone that big over a period of 40 years. The fact that Madonna's concerts are still sold out despite extremely expensive tickets is also something the industry can't control. Most of the time, the media writes negatively about Madonna and criticizes projects before they've even been released. Madonna is a living legend. Boy George had three hits in 40 years, and he tours with them to half-empty venues every year anyway.
