I think thats because fertilize heals you when youre in your own damage area, so with demonfire the code detects it as the damaging area you created, so It heals you.

There's also a colt glitch with the smite abillity. It just makes them like land mines

Devs wanted to increase spike survivability by increasing hp at balance changes

But it seems they did it spike. Survivability is better than frank
