Kobe Bryant on 1/25/20 (The Night Before the Accident)

I almost didn't talk to Kobe last night.

I saw him as he came down the escalator.

Surprised, I started to video.

“Go talk to him,” said a small voice inside me.

“I’m gonna kick myself for the rest of my life if I don’t talk to him,” I said to my wife as I headed his way.

My daughter ran after me.

"Dad, who is this?"

"The greatest basketball player of our time. No one like him," I told her.

We found him sitting with his daughter.

Completely, totally focused on her as she giggled over ice cream.

Like there was no one else around. Just daddy & his little girl.

“Hey Kobe, you’re amazing. I want you to know that. Thank you for all you’ve done,” I said.

Looking at me, he smiled. Extended his billion-dollar hand.

“Hey, thanks, man. I appreciate that!” he said. I could feel the calluses on his hand.

I turned to his daughter & touched her shoulder lightly. “Having a nice time with dad?”

She giggled & kept slurping.

“All right Kobe, have a wonderful evening,” I said.

“You too man!”

And that was it.

Excitedly, I texted friends, "Just saw Kobe!"

Then this morning: horrible news. 😩

You never know the significance of a moment.

Listen to the little voice inside you.

Death comes for all.

👉 When it's your turn, are you ready?

I love how people let him do his thing and not bother him.

People asking why no security. But fact of the matter was, all of LA was Kobes security. He had a whole city as a body guard.

It's so surreal seeing this. He had no idea that he was going to die in less than 24 hours. Goes to show that no second of life is guaranteed.

Since he passed away, 2020 has been crippling

Kobe was still alive, everyone was sitting close together, not a face mask or hand sanitizing station in sight, damn, the world was such a different place just a few months ago.

I love how they just let him be and live his life. No security no paps. Just a man doing his thing.

That’s very cool how everyone respected his space and quality time with his daughter. I didn’t see anybody chasing him down for a picture or autograph 👏🏽.... he was just walking thru the food court like a normal guy... rest easy Kobe and all other lives lost!

I love how he’s walking around without a crowd just living his own life

That speaks even more to his character that he was hanging out with his daughter like a normal person.
I think having an entourage of security draws more attention and makes people want to get close even more!
I think it's cool that u didn't ask for a pic and autograph. U kept that as a memory and didn't care about having proof! U respected his time with his daughter and just said hi, and gave a handshake!

10-15 years from now this video will randomly pop up on people’s recommendations and it’s gonna be such a weird feeling.

It's great how everyone is so normal about him being there walking as a regular guy. It's so sad that he is gone. Life is so precious. Sigh
