Virtual Reality Career Exploration

Показать описание
Employment North has recently entered into the Virtual Reality world and is utilizing a technology that allows job seekers to explore careers they may be interested in by being fully immersed visually in a 3D environment.
The technology allows for employment councillors to guide their clients through one of 15 simulations which include such trades based careers like mining engineer, stick welder, electrician, HVAC Technician, heavy equipment operator, robotics technician, pipe fitter, CNC operator and steel production worker to name a few. The technology is constantly evolving and new simulations are continuing to be developed with another further 10 simulations slated to be added in the new year.
The simulations have been developed and vetted with industry experts so they are as close and real as possible to what someone working in this job would experience. These simulation are meant to provide the job seeker with an idea of what it would be like to work in these jobs and this sort of career and are in no way to teach or train job seekers, just give them a glimpse of what the job would be like to see if tat is something that they would be interested in pursuing. After the guided simulation, the job seeker and the councillor would discuss their experience and any questions or concerns they may have and would discuss if that was something they would be interested in pursuing.
This application is also very useful for someone who is looking to apprentice but not sure if this is something they would like to be doing or not. All in all it is a very handy and useful tool in career exploration and compliments the workshops and information that we provide when it comes to job searching and career exploration.
This video is one of our staff members in a simulation, the CNC production operator to give you an idea of what to expect during simulation.
