(1998, remastered in 2020) It is thanks to the foresight of Vancouver impressario David Y. H. Lui that the entire concert from which this excerpt derives was recorded and filmed. The music is from Tchaikovsky's Symphony #3. The excellent cameawork was by Val Nelson.

Balanchine was a genius! To take something like T33 (Tchaikovsky 3rd symphony, 3rd movement) which was already incredibly beautiful in its own right, and make it even more than what it was, well that takes some doing 🙂 also this presentation, with the dancers immediately in front of the orchestra, brings the choreography into sharp focus, and shows us the skill of both dancers.
