Honestly this is one of the best renditions to me of this conversation. There is emotion in both Megatron and Prime here unlike others. I like the younger sounding Optimus as well because of it. Awesome job!

For some reason, when Prime and Megatron were reminiscing how each of them beat each other, it reminded me of two brothers bickering.

6:40 He criticizes Cybertron for denying others their autonomy mere sentences after saying his ideal future would itself reject autonomy. It's just amazing how he can't see how delusional that is.

Something we have to remember is that in the IDW continuity they weren't brothers before the war started, like in ONE or how the Prime flashbacks suggests, Optimus was inspired by Megatron words but the latter betrayed him after overthrowing the senate (in the Autocracy trilogy), and yet now they both seem to consider the thought of the other joining his side, not only to the end the war, but because they legitemately understand each other. This is the one continuity where the war and corruption of their world didn't destroy their brotherhood but are the reason of why it exists even if they won't admit it.

That's deep. What I find most interesting is that even though the Autobots stand for justice, fairness, and freedom...the rest of the universe wants NOTHING to do with EITHER of them.

Megatron and Prime don't hate each other. They have much admiration and respect for each other, that comes out in this conversation and in their 86 movie battle. They both hesitated, when they both had an opportunity to end each other.

This right her is the most beautiful rendition of the civil war that has engulfed Cybertron for centuries. The fact that two old friends who saw each as brothers at some point are now here, sitting in a cell and have a conversation that needed to take place at some point in the past that could have resolved this eons ago. And the beautiful thing about it: is that Megatron and Optimus Prime never really hates each other, both of them are disgusted at the positions of which they stand for. You can clearly see the love and respect they have for each other is still there, but its kept under so many wraps that neither any of their closets companions truly know.

I think its swee that both of them have th same goal at the end of the day, which is to restore Cybertron into an age of prosperity and peace. If only there was an alternative universe where this war never happened...and both Orion and D-16 stayed close friends...

We knew Optimus and Megatron were gonna have this conversation, no one else around, just two leaders with opposing views and pondering on what even is the point of their rivalry and if there even is a purpose on it all. They speak their peace and speak what is on their mind

See this is why I hate that so many people want heroes to just kill their villains and be done with it. When villains are treated as one-off threats, we are robbed from amazing dynamics between sworn enemies like this.

I had goosebumps... it was way more thrilling than the usual battle... Megatron had his rights, but excecuted them wrongly... it's tuff for both sides, but I have respect for Megatron now

Even through all the fights that make these two famous, i think it's moments like this that make me appreciate these characters. The quiet moments where two rivals, who might as well be brothers, just sit and talk. Just laying out their ideals and wants before eachother and comparing them.
