After selling his custom-built home in the San Francisco suburbs, Mike is up for a change, and wants to buy a home in the city. With a whopping $4 million budget, he wants a home with architectural history, such as a Victorian or Edwardian, but it needs to have a contemporary interior with the same kind of custom details he had in his previous home, such as a home integration system. As a divorced father of 3, he also needs to have 4 bedrooms and 4 baths to accommodate his kids. But in one of the world's most expensive real estate markets, even a multi-million dollar budget comes with big compromises.

House Hunters takes viewers behind the scenes as individuals, couples, and families learn what to look for and decide whether or not a home is meant for them. Focusing on the emotional experience of finding and purchasing a new home, each episode shows the process as buyers search for a home. #WatchOnHGTV #HGTV #HouseHunters

😂😂😂 he really said what does the person ( a child) in the third bedroom do for a bathroom? They walk, like normal kids do

I would choose house 1 or 2. At least the second one had potential to add a bedroom in the basement. Plus all that parking in San Fran is golden. That HOA alone on the third home would have me saying, "Nope!"

What‘s the problem of kids sharing a bathroom? Ridiculous.

Not a wise decision. I would have opted for #1

When he asked where the 3rd bedroom person would use the bathroom I almost peed myself. Uh. Any of the 3 bathrooms in the home?! Are people this spoiled for real? The horror!

Whoa... the HOA for house #3 is $2, 708 per month?? That's insane.

I’ve grown up in Los Angeles and have visited SF many times. I fully understand, “I left my heart in San Francisco”. If you understand the cities history, beauty, and architecture then you understand this place makes you feel a certain way. No other place gives me the same feeling I get when I visit SF. I ❤ San Francisco

This guy is giving "I left my wife for a 20-something" vibes. Lol

Well, that’s all I can say, so obviously money isn’t that much of a big deal when you’re paying almost $3000 a month just for the HOA. it truly looks like you have a beautiful family, one needs to be careful not to indulge them because often as they get older, they become ungrateful. It’s actually good for children to be together, to share, it actually brings the family closer together.😊

The views in number 3 are to die for! I would have picked number 1 though.

Something about this guy I can’t pinpoint but perhaps a bit cocky and a bit of a snob!

Oh wow I can't imagine spending that amount of money but needing to do so much renovations to it! He's mostly definitely done it to win his kids over.

I am shocked he chose the chocolate factory condo. It is really noisy with tourists everywhere. Also almost $3K a month in HOA dues! The dark grey house 1 was the one he should have chosen.

I liked the 1st property. It was cheaper, yet turn-key, not needing any work at all plus the layout makes it work for the lack of a fourth bedroom. It also has the privacy that the expensive 3rd home with amenities and views didn't have. I would compromise on views for a cheaper private turn-key home with a beautiful layout and outdoor space.

This is an old episode, did he sell this property yet? He should have made a better choice.

This guy seems completely insufferable. I didn’t like him as soon as he disclosed his former profession. Big time DB

The home we lived in as kids is now over 1.7m now. Mom only paid 64k then! Outside still looks the same
