This game series is what got me into video games/anime/manga. It is my favorite series of all time and I wouldn’t be the same today if I had never played it. So hope we get more remasters and new games in the future for .hack.

in all e GU games..i have sunk close to 400 hours into it. Back then, the better completion rating u had, the easier the start of the next game was, then in volume 3 (if u had it all done) you could get some sweet unlock stuff. it was one of the best games ive ever played in my life and I cant wait to play it again :D

I'll be honest, didn't expect to see a .hack video here, but I'm pleasantly surprised :D
I played the old ps2 quadrilogy as well as the G.U. trilogy and I was super excited for this. I think Bamco did a wonderful job with this port (at least with as far as I am, I'm one of the completionists so I'm still in volume 1) but I hope more people will end up trying out and liking the series now due to this game. No game can ever replicate the allure of .hack//G.U. it immerses you to the point that you believe you are the player. Not SAO nor any other can give you that feeling.

I'm really hoping that this game does well, and that they decide to remaster the first .Hack series. Don't own the GU trilogy, but I own the complete .Hack quadrilogy. All 4 of them CIB with their anime discs.

You mention the anime tropes, you have to remember that .Hack IS an anime.
.hack//sign was a anime that gives you an intro in to the WORLD and goes into the first 4 game vols.
there is .hack//GU anime takes place in a "World" v2, that shows the Haseo Back ground. and it flows into the GU games.

I played this game when it first came out on PS2 (still have my copies) and I dreamed of playing a MMO like this. I started playing FFXIV about a year ago, somewhat inspired by this game lol. I'm obsessed with XIV and I'm happy they remastered the G.U. series. I hope the series is revived and they can expand some more on the playstyle. For it's time, it was a really cool and immersive idea. I think a modernized retake on the .hack universe could be really fun.

Yeah, .hack//G.U. was always a SUPER slow burn at the start and very much gameplay wasn't first in mind, I completely agree. Once the story does pick up I find myself really into it but you kind of have to power through basically all of Volume 1. The remaster though is well made, it runs well and there are a lot of quality-of-life adjustments from the original trilogy (faster movement speed, faster exp gain, etc.) so it's worth checking out if you think you can deal with a slow start.

and we absolutely adore this game. Apparently it's a hard game to get a hold of now because he'd been trying to gamefly it and they never had it.

Good to now I can buy all the games when I get a ps4

Haps I'm dissapointed that you didnt mention a PEEP about the soundtracks. That's such a huge part of the game that reels you in.

It is an amazing game, very complex and deep story, combat is very fun and it has a very good price. Totally recommend it.

Fun fact: In the original vol 1, only your character was able to kick the chim chims. Your friends wouldn't chase them for you. Yeah. Imagine how old that got.

Dunno why but this game being released completely passed me by anyway glad your enjoying it Haps.
Also in case you didn't know when an ally dies you can heal them before they hit the ground and dissipate for a free revive.
At least I remember this working.

You forget to mention how Twinblades are hellishly shitty until volume 2.

Yo, Mr.Happy piece of advice when using the greatsword. If you only do the first attack and hit block as you swing you cancel the animation. It's much better to only do the first swing as it let's you do a Rengeki faster.

Don't worry the game will pick up near the end of volume 2 when you get your third form. It'll unlock the Double Trigger feature which makes combat a lot mote fluid. It'll really open up on Volume 3 when you get a crap ton more tilesets for the dungeons and fields. Gives more variety in the scenery.
