Welcome back! And what a day!

This was some of the biggest winds ive been out in 35-45kt averages!

I went with the smallest foil I currently have, the 1070 Fireball and paired it with the 40 skinny and 70cm short advanced + fuse.

Dylon watched my footage and thought I looked over foiled amongst other things... I believe him here though. I could have sized down further either via front foil stabilizer or potentially both! I guess that means either the 35 or 30 skinny (likely the 35) I think that would have opened up the front foil a touch.

The other option is to size down the front foil to the 1000FB, this would have been new territory and I'm not likely to have done that on such a savage day. I haven't used the 1000 fireball yet in any environment, my friends like Jon and Dylon use it plenty and im sure I will also, once I brake the seal. Thats not likely to be in such winds like this though.

I fell off towards the end, as you likely saw, and it wasn't easy to get up again. The water was a bit crossed up and the bumps were steep and sucking and making it tough to be ready to go! I got up twice with feet slightly off and my mind found it hard to get up to speed as much as my foil... I went from bobbling around on the water to bombing down a wave at 30+kph before my brain could figure it all out. Explosions followed. That happened twice before took a slightly longer rest allowing myself to sync a bit better with my current" environment. It helped and the next time I got up I stuck it to the beach.

The takeoffs were actually ok and very easy at the start! luckily I banked the middle 20km before having to paddle up again. When it was time to paddle up I found some of the waves/bumps dragging me along at speeds high enough get me on foil! before even getting in a paddle stroke in some instances... this I thought was going to make things easy but actually the bumps were moving quick enough that it was actually really hard to catch up with them... This makes me think I might have actually struggled with the smaller foils as I think I leaned a bit on the strong stall speed. So it seemed that I actually needed a bit of luck with the final paddle ups with the ocean offering up a pathway that would allow me to get up on foil.

So it was quite an extreme day especially with doing a 27km run before hand on the north side of the peninsula!
