A bobber coupled with a small jig and minnow is one of the best ways to coax bites from tentative crappie in shallow grass. Wired2Fish owner Scott Glorvigen shares several rigging tips ranging from why he tail hooks minnows over nose hooking, the benefits of a small tungsten jig over a bare hook and split shot, and the importance of braided line and a long rod for extracting crappie from thick cover.

Nice rig setup!! I've recently started Fishing for Crappie and the rig I have been using has been similar. I use a Crappie jig high vis Yellow on the end of the line and then I come up 18-24in and put a weighted bobber on. The weighted bobber takes the place of the split shot and allows my jig to freely play through the water as I slowly reel in... I did this one afternoon and brought 10 Crappie to the shore in less than 20mins!! Was a great afternoon!!
