I don't think 15% is a crazy run, especially in this market and considered how much is dropped. But you are totally right that nobody knows where it goes short term. Never fomo.
I have 30% of my funds in palantir at 18. I'll let them sizzle for some years at least.

Hi Tom, I have 1400 shares at an average price of $12.60. I'm looking to cash in five years from now at the age of 63. I'm keeping everything crossed!

Urgent WARNING-Great advice. Biggest challenge is being patient. Any insights on how to play things up to the reversal? Trimming my tech and balancing with energy, food and real estate has helped me maintain my portfolio value thus far while others have suffered big losses. Just wondering how to play the value stuff prior to crash?

Recently bought my 1000th share, so finally hit the milestone of 1k+ in share count. Still an average cost of around $18, so hope to keep buying in the low 10s the next couple of months

I'm sitting on 10, 500 shares at a cost of $14.78 with my first purchase at $31.31! Glad I averaged down so heavily. My plan is your plan = look at it in 5 years and see what the $150K has grown to. See you on the golf course in 2030.

PLTR is 80+% of my very small portfolio, my cost basis is around $12.50. If it goes down, I'll buy more. If it goes up, I'll wait for what I think is a likely local top and sell some OTM calls for premium. Sometimes I even like to buy short-term PLTR puts. Just gotta roll with the market, I know pretty well now how PLTR tends to trade. Always appreciate the caution, Tom! Definitely gonna hold as many shares as I can for as long as I can, but as a swing/options trader I *love* me some volatility

Palantir definitely, DEFINITELY has the strongest fundamentals as a revenue growth company! NO debt, tons of cash on hand, big contract after big contract, software that is incomparable and next-levels compared to others; the long list goes 🌎

Turned 1k into 10k buying oil stocks in March 2020 and holding until now. Just sold most of my oil and diversified it into my favorite tech stocks. pltr

I bought like crazy these past couple of weeks during the downturn and got my shares up to 500 now. I’m definitely a long term investor and I think when we look back at this time in hindsight, we’ll see what an opportunity this was to buy in. Definitely agree with you Tom, that the increase right now is because of the market as a whole. That’s why I’m waiting out to buy more. I’ll continue to DCA in as I’ve been doing.

I'm in Palantir, but this has hardly been a crazy run.

Hey Tom, great point! However, thanks to you and the market dropping I managed to get a good size position in PLTR. I managed to basically steal the stock at an average price of $11.64 and I purchased 2501 shares so far. I’m still going to dollar cost average for the next 5 to 10 years. I’m really grateful that you proved to me it was worth even looking at the financials and after I did, I purchased it. So thank you and I hope your family near the war is doing well. Praying for you guys and everyone in Ukraine.

I have about 1k in PLTR which is quite a bit for me. What I’m planning just depends on what the stock does. I never really wanted to have such a big position but I also didn’t want to lose the opportunity to average down (I first bought about a year ago🤢). So if the stock goes up to 40 all the sudden I’ll definitely sell SOME of my shares because I desperately need to free up some cash in my portfolio. I do this pretty often with stocks I hold. Start trimming my position if it goes up and possibly buy back in later if it comes back down. I’ve done it several times with PLTR to get my average down from 35/share to under 20. Anyway I’m fine to hold it regardless of what happens

Hey Tom! Great point. I took notice of Palintir at $22 and have been buying it when it began trading at different turns my basis $100k. No more money to buy more. My goal was to own 10K shares. Great content bye keep at it.

Hey Tom, thanks for the perspective. I am still buying Palantir not based on speculation, but based on the fundamentals and for the long term. So not worried at this stage whether the market is up or down. At $12:50 it is still a great steal, and institutional investors have been piling in recently and are beginning to see the upside. Which is a good thing, I think.

I disagree that one would need a very long time horizon to trade PLTR. More like you need a rational trade with a hard stop loss. The recent bounce is nothing much in my opinion and though of course it can crash back down it is far more likely to be up significantly within the next few months. It looks good to me as a position trade or even a swing trade. I would get out of it under $20 or when it approaches the 200 SMA on the daily. Or if you have conviction in the company you can always be prepared to turn your trade into an investment. And there is nothing wrong with FOMOing in so long as you understand your risk/reward and stick with your plan.

I’d hardly call it a crazy run compared to its consistent 50% run down in a few months. Wouldn’t be surprised to see this quickly return to high teens/low 20s and flatten there for a while.

That is a great idea for most retail and smaller account investors in general, especially with growth stocks, 5-year timeframe as our world addresses inflation, supply shortages, higher cost of capital so on. Every sector rotates, it will eventually rotate back to growth stocks and all this dip buying will pay off.

Well, Tom, your 5 year timespan is correct. I totally agree. But I think the short term run up does have something to do with PLTR itself, both technically and fundamentally. The same is true for TSLA. I'm very happy this week, I was adding my positions till Monday. I'm debating if I should take something off the table. But both are so fundamentally strong for the long run, and I got them so cheap. Thanks to Lord!
