A Ukrainian air defense system was destroyed by Russia a few days ago. It’s not entirely clear at this point if it was a Patriot or an S-300 but either way, a notable loss for Ukraine. Ukraine used long range drones to target an A-50 plant inside of Russia deliberately going after the AWACS style aircraft of which Russia only has a few remaining. Dara Massicot put together a solid article talking about very real near term issues for Ukraine and what Russia is likely to do in the coming months. Ukraine received a new batch of artillery ammunition and the film “20 Days in Mariupol” won an Oscar for best documentary.

Russian casualties in Avdivka were lower than western estimates. and the Ukrainian retreat was much more disorganized than what was claimed. that's why the Russians advanced so fast after the city fell. if you consider it that way it's not really a surprise.

what russian manpower advantage, It is the Ukrainians who have manpower advantage almost 2:1 over a million ukrainians were mobilized according to ukraine officials while around half a million russians in ukraine. The advantage of russia is in firepower, electronic jamming and tactics.

No country has fought a war of such a scale since WW2.And any army would make mistakes. But the western analysts do not get it that the russian army's priority is to destroy the enemy and not seize territory.Because as Klausewitz said if you destroy the enemy then you will easily gain territory.That is why they cleverly choosed attrition tactics.Because they know they have much more resources than Ukraine have even with western support.

Regarding the shot down of 11 Russian jets and an A50 AWACS, many suspected that the Ukrainian may have moved the Patriot system closer to the front line, which caught the Russians off guard. This seems concurrent with those theory.
