This was exactly my experience with the g80 m3 (rwd) model when it came out. Harsh low speed ride that settles down at speed, and auto gearbox that is great until high rpm full throttle shifts where you can tell it isn’t as fast as a DCT.

As a current owner of an F80 M3 Comp your comments about it trying to kill you in slippery conditions made me chuckle as it’s spot on! (Even worse with a stage 1 Evolve tune 🤪)

Great review, Dan (as if he is going to read this lol). So much content focuses on the stuff that is obvious and usually subjective; the way a car looks, how it sounds, and how quick it is. It is refreshing to watch a review where the commentary highlights the things you could only learn from driving it properly on challenging roads.

Can't believe how heavy the D segment cars have become!

It's been a while since the introduction of the G8X and realise I'm still not used to the looks of the M4, not only because of the grill, but also the lack of a strong shoulder line and the Hofmeister kink.

Great review as always. I do like the look of that with AWD. Currently have the F82 M4 Competition and I love it. Owned it just over 6 months now and it’s an unbelievable car. I think my car looks better than the new M4 too, but maybe I’m being biased.

I would never buy a car in Canada without 4x4 or AWD. It is not practical. This opens up a whole new world of buyers for BMW. I am ordering an M4 with X-drive.

Great review Dan. As an earlier M3 owner (e92) I know all about those cold winter moments. It's 4 wheel drive for me, there's fun and the there is trying to kill you.

I am in the US so we are blessed with the manual trans. I wish we had a AWD manual car. But I am so pleased to at least have a manual at all! Wish you guys in the UK had the option!

The M3/M4 has to be the ultimate sports family saloon car, if fuel economy is the least of your priorities and you are not rich enough to afford an S class or a Panamera.

I am starting to really like the styling of the car and the front end! It’s not a bad looking car. I think it will grow on people.
