Here's how an informed Dutch person sees it: when we were under German occupation and oppression, those who fought the occupier were known as 'resistance fighters'. They were decorated after the war, both survivors and those killed.

I saw the film "No other land" directed by Basel Adra (a Palestinian law graduate), Hamdan Ballal, Yuval Abraham (an Arabic speaking reporter) and Rachel Szor. Gideon Levy was in the footage of Basel Adra's family, who has been resisting the forced displacement of his people by Israel's military in Masafer Yatta, a region in the West Bank, since he was a child. Gideon was seen visiting the wreckage by bulldozers of the family's property, which had been razed and rebuilt several times.

It is not correct to judge the Palestinian conflict from October 7th.
The war never started on October 7th.
The war started in 1948.
The State of Israel was born from an organised theft of land.

The 17 to 18 years in which he describes Gaza as a prison is definitely part of the problem,
but the only way to can rationally consider it to be the principle cause of the Oct 7th attack is by ignoring all the history that came before.
Ignoring that history is so irresponsible that he can not, in good conscience, be considered a journalist, but rather a propagandist.
