How to EQ and mix drums (toms, tom toms, rack drums, floor toms) for live and studio band mixes. Examples are shown on the Behringer X32 and XR18 platform (also applicable to the Midas M32 and Midas MR18).
Equalization is an important step in getting a good, fat, solid drum sound and blending your individual drums with the entire drum kit, and the band itself.
Drum microphones and mic positioning are discussed as well as EQ concepts and properly using the high pass filter (HPF)/low cut.
These drum mixing tips and tricks, and techniques, are applicable to any mixing console, but are shown on the Behringer digital audio consoles.
The X32 surface and XR18 X-Air Edit software are shown in the examples.
