A drunk Tom Rowsell can elucidate on history better than most academics sober.

By far my favorite YouTuber. Based on the intro, if you make it to L'anse aux Meadows you will love Newfoundland. Cheers

❤ the video. Istanbul is a bucket list. The sistern blew my mind. Pagan columns preserved is incredible. Mithradites connections 2 all the temples and Gods of his time intreges me. Cheers!

Currently re-reading John Julius Norwich's three part Byzantium history and this appears, outstanding!

Remarkable city! Mr. Rowsell is unstoppable! That wide angle lens you used really gave a much better sense of scale to the Hagia Sophia than anything I've seen elsewhere.

Cool. Do check out Baalbek of Lebanon too (when things settle down over there). Baalbek was originally built in honor of the Levantine god Baal. But there are several Roman temples there. The temple of Bacchus in Baalbek is the largest Roman temple ever built, really stunning.

Tom did you see the Viking Varangian Guard runes carved into the marble balcony at Hagia Sophia? When I visited in 2000, it was the main thing I had to see in Constantinople. The other was Troy. I even met the lead German archaeologist Dr. Korfmann, who introduced me to the English lady artist who showed me her depiction of the stone relics they excavated. It was a glorious time.
