Makes me even more grateful I survived COVID while battling stage 3 lung cancer. It delayed the start of chemo and radiation but I beat it. Cancer NEXT. 🙏❤🌹

Powell gave an interview back in June or July where he basically said "I'm 84, I have two diseases (cancer and parkensons), I have had a good life and I don't feel like I have missed a day of it." More words of wisdom can be found in his 13 points. Thanks for this post...it is spot on and much needed and appreciated.

I have a patient who is 70yrs old, has a severe primary immunodeficiency, paralyzed right lung and multiple myeloma cancer who caught covid in September 2020. He ended up in ICU and ventilated for 16 days, but miraculously survived. Doctors said he should not have even survived the 1st night. It wasn't his time to go. He took a T-Detect test and it was positive for T-cell response after a year which is promising news.

Multiple Myeloma would cause a damn cold to be lethal @ any age.

My condolences to Colin Powell's family. An 84 year old with blood cancer dying with an infectious disease is not a mystery that needs to be solved. When it is death's time, best to die easily and without pain if possible

Thank you for once again stating two basic truths of this planet - there is no such thing as zero risk and there is no such thing as living forever.

People die… we need to start getting back to reality. They do it daily and someday it’ll be your turn. Live a life that reflects its precious, but don’t waste it. Stop being afraid, you’re going to be ok!

As always -appreciate your desire to simplify and explain! Any infection in Myeloma patient can turn into sepsis and consequent death

Majority of hospitalized covid cases and covid deaths that have been used to scare people in general are people who have at least one comorbidity. They dont like to advertise that they prefer to scare you. But when someone who is fully vaccinated they will be the first to say they had x y z comorbidity. In Canada we had a young boy who was in the news as dying with covid complications (in an effort to scare parents into vaccinating their children) his family spoke out condemning the article saying he was already dying of brain cancer. All of this nonsense has to stop.

I highly resent the attitude some have that COVID just sped up the inevitable. Too bad. My father died due to COVID complications. He had several comorbidities but he was living his life. He loved his family and enjoyed his life. It makes me furious to think some "gain of function" virus robbed him and us of time together.

When I saw the mainstream media talk about his death, I felt they were driving more fear about covid, he was 84 and had cancer, his death wasn't so much about covid, its about all the other health conditions he had.

I would love for you to comment on the article from the European Journal of Epidemiology, which concludes that, “ Increases in COVID cases are unrelated to levels of vaccination across 68 countries and 2947 counties in the United States “.

The rules/opinions from everyone has given me whiplash. If it wasn't for the free donuts, money, lottery tickets, plane tickets, sports tickets, early prison releases, or being fired as a nurse for refusing it, I would've thought this vaccine was a tad suspicious 🤔. Good thing I like bribes :)

I haven't heard any "anti-vaxxers" make a big deal because he died and was vaccinated, just the media. It's obvious he had other issues that put him at risk. 99.9% of "anti-vaxxers" would have recommended that he be vaccinated. It's all about the risk and he was clearly at risk.

As someone who has already buried my father in his 80's and is now dealing with the rapid and serious decline of my mother in her 80's (no knowing how much longer she is going to live), I think all it does is prove that when it comes to our elderly loved ones, any illness can be the illness that finally takes our loves ones. Yes it appears these vaccinations can save lives, but life can only last so long, precious and delicate, nothing is a guaranteed. I regret the harm these covid lockdowns have done to the remaining quality of life of my mother. My mom has been in assisted living and now a nursing home and the quality of life in combination with the constant restrictions from seeing her family really does have a severe negative impact on our loved ones health. I hate that our government leaders seem to believe that our elderly loved ones lives are indefinite and that they can wait around forever for covid to end....In the mean time they are still dying from any number of natural causes and deprived of contact with their loved ones, social experiences, and stripped of any quality of life. It is heart breaking because our elderly don't always have much longer to live and their lives and right to happiness are being thrown away. Sadly, it seems like the health officials believe as long as people are saved from being cases of covid, apparently human life and quality of life doesn't matter.

I'm sorry to hear of his death as well but should his death be counted as a coronavirus death or should it be from the myeloma? People counted as deaths from covid in that age group usually have other serious disease like cancer and being 84, that's what frustrates me on this whole shit storm.

So tired of families putting their 80 plus yr old family thru endless, useless, painful and exhausting tests and med treatments. Let them go and Rest In Peace; signed experienced nurse

I'm noticing my older Covid patients whether they be vaccinated or not are developing UTI infection in conjunction with covid pneumonia

Having had cancer myself I could probably explain what the treatment does to your immune system but I'll listen to the doctor. I'm sure he knows a lot more than I do.
