Can anyone remember how exciting it was when Top of the Pops came on. It was something our whole family never missed when I was a kid. They even had a xmas special which was absolutely required viewing.

Music was good in the 70s and 80s! Then it started to fade into nothing in the 90s(late 90s)

Grease will always be one of the classic musicals, and even though they weren't together too long, The Police were a bloody fantastic band. ❤😂

That year is still very vivid in my mind. I was 11 years old and just starting my first year at grammar school and there were lively discussions about music in my class. Many girls were ABBA fans, two girls were totally into Kate Bush after seeing her on TV with Alfred Biolek.
As an ELO and Dire Straits fan, I had my little fights with the Queen fans ;-)

What a year. Debut albums of Dire Straits, the Police, The Cars and Van Halen. Then there was Grease and disco, and the start of New Wave. Loved it.

Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty should have been in there and near the top too. Brilliant song that still sounds as good now as it did back then.
