Robin Padilla’s ‘Jackie Chan’ attire a scene-stealer at Senate probe into Pogos

There was nothing like Senator Padilla to lighten the mood at a serious Senate session.

For a moment, Padilla provided comic relief in the often tension-filled Senate chamber, which on Tuesday was conducting a hearing on the Philippine offshore gaming operator  industry with his “Jackie Chan” attire, as one colleague described it.

Philippine senators should observe proper decorum and proper dress code in order to be respected by all just like their counterparts from other countries. It has become a joke nowadays to be a part of it and what a shame. When elected, they should go first to school of proper etiquette before assuming the job of a Philippine senator. How can Senators gain respect from anyone if you don't know how to act and respect yourself as one. Public officials should act properly and responsibly because they are setting good examples or role models to people below them without a doubt. In short, they are held to high standards no less. The wearing of barong or coat/tie are the only options to wear by Senators in the Senate, and not anything they want. They're no different from executives of various corporations (i.e. CEOs, etc.).
