Wonderful review. All 3 new songs are absolutely stunning. Someone on another thread under the video of "Austerity" said that it sounded like two songs being played over each over simultaneously. I absolutely LOVE that track. The polyrhythms produce a 'wall-of-sound' atmosphere that sounds massive, cathartic, commanding, serious and utterly beautiful. The song is bold and brave, and forgive me, but it also emancipates itself from all-too constrictive genre references. It might be my current favorite of the 3 new tracks I have heard, but all 3 are outstanding. It's all very fresh and feels polished, meant in the most complimentary way. Feels like Jonas, with his commanding and uniquely beautiful vocals, sounds better than ever. The entire band really put a lot into this album, and you can hear it in every note. Even the cover-art is sensational, representing again, an emancipation from what was, and providing us with the here-and-now - a renewed and reborn iteration of Katatonia's signature sound, essence soul.

Great album, I definitely like it more than City Burials. Night is the New Day, Last Fair Deal, and The Fall of Hearts are always my top 3 though

The album starts for me from Opaline, then its all an emotional journey fitting Katatonia's style. the prior two tracks haven't grown on me yet, Austerity is a good rock song even live, not much of a Katatonia one though.
