I have to ship a 1702 Commodore monitor to a location far, far away! But I am nervous about packing it suitably...but first I just want to check over the monitor to ensure that it is as perfect as a CRT monitor can be after 38 years!

Cables sometimes have different coloured ends on the cable, but a little experimentation is quite harmless...just be careful...and if you hear a nasty hum, turn it off quickly and try a different combination...

A good way to make custom packaging is to get some cans of expanding foam and a load of black bin bags. you can then squirt the expanding foam into the bags and mould / shape to how you want. I have used this method a few times and is the best so far as you can basically fill any voids with the expanding foam and once it has expanded and cured it is as good as any OEM packaging.

Hi Dave,
I sold a Sony 17" computer monitor a couple of years ago and didn't have the original box or inner packaging. I remember being quite worried about the weight and it making the journey in one piece.

Firstly I wrapped the monitor with A LOT of bubble wrap, then lined the box with styrofoam and lastly placed the monitor in a strong box and strapped with duct tape.

The monitor did arrive perfectly fine. Hope that helps 👍
